Statement of Faith

I believe the Bible to be the plenary, (absolute, complete) inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. I believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death for the elect, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. I believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit causes and enables one to believe in Jesus for Salvation. I believe that faithful involvement in the local church is essential for the Christian’s sanctification, growth in grace and peace of mind. I believe that Jesus is the Savior of all who come to Him by faith. Amen

Our santification is not contingent upon our involvement in the local church, that would make our sanctification of works and not of faith. It is contingent upon our new birth in Christ which is of faith.
1 Corinth. 1:30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1:31: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

I agree with you that we are not saved nor sanctified by works…this is the work of God. But we are not to think that we are ‘saved’ and then left to grope in the darkness alone. Our Father seemed to think that the assembling of ourselves together was very important…essential. In Hebrews 10:24-25 He issues this call saying “and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” God has appointed…pastors and teachers to equip us for the work of the ministry. He seemed to think that this was important enough to incorporate it into the warp and woof of His Church…His assembly. We are the ecclesia, the assembly of the called out ones…we were called out of the world…out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of His Dear Son and we assemble together to sit at His feet and learn of Him…to hear His Truth, His Holy Word preached and taught…He feeds our souls through His truth…and we are sanctified by His Truth…His word is truth. God sanctifies us as we daily feed upon His Holy Word, as He reveals Himself to us through that Word…and as we gather together in fellowship with one another…Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. These things are essential to the Christians sanctification, growth in grace and peace of mind. And we receive these things by faith…faith comes by hearing (the truth of the word of God) and hearing (the ability to understand the truth of God which is Spiritually discerned, this comes) by the word (the command) of God. And all praise and glory and honor to Him who sits on the throne!
This is what I mean when I say ‘essential.’ Thank you for you comment.
