A Day Of Mourning!

December 16, 2011

Christopher Hitchens is gone. On Thursday night this enemy of the Gospel passed away.

This is a day of mourning. In Ezekiel 18:23 God says: “Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord GOD, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live? He repeats this in chapter 33:11 saying “”Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?‘ If God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, how can we?

I’m sure that some are probably rejoicing over the death of Mr. Hitchens but I cannot. I know the truth; an unrepentant sinner has passed from this life as it is appointed unto man to die once…but now, having passed from this life in rebellion against God, being condemned already for not having believed, trusted in Christ for the salvation of His never dying soul, now comes the judgment and this man is now in torment for all eternity.

Mourn over the death of this man who died a rebel before God. And mourn over those who believe as he did…for unless they repent they will likewise perish.

YES! It is a sad day! I think most of us have forgotten why Christ came here. Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.” Most people know what John 3:16 says but they need to keep reading John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.! Mr. Hithens was lost and he need to be saved. Mr. Hithens may have rejected Christ, but I wonder if we try’d hard enough. Christ died for ALL! Being a Christian doesnt mean were part of some club or orginization, it means were part of the body of Christ, there’s not wall’s to hide behind, no pews to sit on. The Great Commission is to be done out side amongst the lost in the wilderness. The wilderness of lost souls, whom Hithens was one.
